Traces of an ancient past

The entrance lobby at DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square narrates the UAE’s rich history as a trading post and destination for ancient voyagers. The artwork features maps of historic routes and scenes of traditional ships at sea.

The main lobby lounge and circulation spaces are a treasure trove of art and objects, showcasing large wall installations alongside an eclectic collection of decorative items. Wooden shelving units, reaching up to the ceiling, are filled with unexpected artifacts: antique sun compasses, sand timers, magnifying glasses, vintage boat propellers, old telephones, analogue radios, and globes. A curated collection of books, spanning art, design, encyclopedias, and history, adorns the shelves, adding to the space’s rich narrative.
